Constructive Engagement: Coalition for Change to the Disability Gifts and Assets Limits

I was invited to the office of the Minister of Community and Social Services at Queen’s Park to present the proposed regulatory amendment to the Ontario Disability Support Program Act. (December 2016). 

In 2017 Innoweave supported my leadership of the Coalition for Change to the Disability Gifts and Assets Limits.

This article is about how the Coalition for Change to the Disability Gifts and Assets Limits successfully worked to remove financial barriers for people on the Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP). These barriers included strict rules on how much money people could save or receive as gifts, which often kept them living in poverty. In June 2016, the Coalition asked for help from Innoweave's Constructive Engagement coaching program to push for changes to these ODSP rules.
